PE "Roads of Serbia" makes the following announcement to provide the public with objective and accurate information:
Pavement rehabilitation works are being carried out on IA Category State Road No. 2, the section from Ub to Lajkovac, from km 43+151 to km 45+600, in the left lane (in the direction of Belgrade), with a total length of 2.45 km.
Pavement rehabilitation works on the above section are being carried out due to the appearance of damage in the form of longitudinal and transverse cracks on the roadway, accompanied by asphalt layer wrinkles.
The appearance of the above damage to the roadway is a consequence of the high level of groundwater and its frequent oscillations during the year.
The level of underground water and its balance has been significantly disturbed over a long period, especially during the last year and this year, due to heavy rainfall and the overflowing of the Kolubara River and its tributaries.
Flooding of the area due to the rise and changes in the level of underground water, and especially frequent oscillations, led to suffusion, i.e., washing of small particles from the material in the subsoil (natural soil) and material in the surfacing.
The washing of small particles from the material in the surfacing and the subsoil led to a drop in its bearing capacity, which in the later phase of road exploitation resulted in the deterioration of the surfacing and the appearance of the above damage.
The rehabilitation of the road section concerned envisages the removal of the finished layer (with a thickness of 5 cm) in the full width (emergency, driving, and overtaking traffic lane) of the left lane, while the removal of the bituminized bearing layers with a thickness of 15 cm is planned in the driving traffic lane.
After the removal of asphalt layers in the driving lane, stone aggregate, a fraction of 0-4mm is to be applied to improve the granulometric composition of the material in the lower bearing layers of the surfacing, followed by cement stabilization on the spot.
After the completion of the above works, two new bituminized bearing layers of BNS 22 sA Pmb, with a total thickness of 15 cm, and the finishing layer of asphalt concrete AB11 with Pmb with a thickness of 5 cm are planned in the full width of the left lane.
Due to the position of the segment for service vehicles only on this highway section, temporary traffic signs were installed along the length of 7 km.
The left lane is closed for traffic, while traffic is enabled in both directions on the right lane of the highway.
For traffic safety, due to the proximity of the works to the Ub Interchange, the exit for Ub from the direction of Čačak is closed.
All traffic regime modifications on the respective highway section comply with the Decision issued by the competent Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure.
Pavement rehabilitation works are carried out by the road company "Štrabag" doo Beograd, which is also responsible for the maintenance of I A Category State Road No. 2 - the Miloš Veliki highway.
The value of pavement rehabilitation works will amount to 126.3 million dinars, exclusive of VAT.
