Presentation of the progress of the project "Development of the border crossing Santovo - Bački Breg"

On June 23, 2022, a media conference was held in the premises of PE "Roads of Serbia" where the progress of the project "Development of the border crossing Santovo - Bački Breg with the necessary customs office and facilities for cargo traffic" was presented.

The project is funded from the Interreg IPA funds of the European Union, and the partners in the project are the Hungarian National Infrastructure Agency (NIF Zrt.), PE "Institute of Urbanism of Vojvodina" and PE "Roads of Serbia".

The attendees were addressed by Zoran Drobnjak, Acting Director of PE "Roads of Serbia", Miodrag Poledica, executive director of the Department for Strategy, Design and Development of PE "Roads of Serbia", and Zoltan Nalji, project leader on behalf of the Hungarian National Infrastructure Agency via the online platform.

Jovana Đurović, Head of the Department for Strategic Planning, Studies and Development of PE "Roads of Serbia" and Tamara Zelenović Vasiljević, PhD, a member of the project team of PE "Institute of Urbanism of Vojvodina" also spoke about the details of the project.

The aim of the project is the development of the border crossing Santovo-Bački Breg for all types of cargo traffic without restrictions. Currently, the border crossing can be used only by passenger vehicles and cargo vehicles under 3.5t.

The total budget of the project, which should be completed by September 30, 2022, amounts to 469,925.50 euros.

As a partner in the project, PE "Roads of Serbia" should develop the required planning documentation, a conceptual design, a preliminary design and a construction permit design for the development of the border crossing for cargo traffic.

The expansion of this border crossing for all types of cargo traffic will enable the circulation of all types of goods, relieve existing border crossings and reduce congestion at the border, and thus provide new opportunities for the development of economic and all other connections between the two countries, as well as better border cooperation between regions in Serbia and Hungary.
