COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF IVERAK-LAJKOVAC EXPRESSWAY, SUBSECTION FROM IVERAK TO INTERCHANGE DIVCI

In the presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Vučević, Minister of Public Investments Darko Glišić, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Li Ming, members of the government, acting directors of Roads of Serbia and Corridors of Serbia, Zoran Drobnjak and Aleksandar Antić, representatives of contractors and subcontractors, as well as local governments, on February 2nd, 2025 the construction of the Iverak - Lajkovac expressway, the subsection form Iverak - Divci interchange, has been completed.

BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT

The station starts from the state road of I B category number 27 (Loznica-Valjevo-Lazarevac) from Iverak through the newly designed roundabout and through the traffic interchange “Divci” and ends with the connection to the existing interchange “Lajkovac” of the Belgrade-South Jadran highway.

With the project solution, with those uneven intersections ensure safe, high-quality connections, as well as the possibility to enter to other state and local roads.

There are 26 bridges and culverts with separate directions and different lengths. The longest bridge is at km 13+980, which spans the Kolubara River, the state road and local roads, with a length of about 928 m.

Most of the route is located in the flood zone of the Kolubara River, about 52% of the route.

The adopted calculation speed is 100 km/h, and the following elements were applied:

  • driving lanes 4x3.50 m = 14.0 m.
  • edge strips 4x0.50 m = 2.0 m.
  • dividing strip 1x4.0 m = 4.0 m.
  • shoulder of the roads 2x1.5 m = 3.0 m.

The total width of the whole characteristic cross-section is 23m.

The project includes controlled drainage of roadways with a system for purification and protection of watercourses.

SUBSECTION FROM IVERAK TO INTERCHANGE DIVCI - 5.8 km

A roundabout was designed and built at km 0+536.65, connecting the city of Valjevo with the existing road with the planned Northern Bypass around Valjevo and the newly designed road. The route then crosses the bridge over the existing state road and railway at the station at around 1+900 and continues on the right side of the railway from the direction of Valjevo towards Lajkovac.

At km 2+400, a roundabout was also designed to connect with the future Southern Bypass, and at km 5+800, the Divci intersection was designed – an uneven intersection that has the function of connecting the designed state road with the existing state road of I B category number 27, as well as with the state road of II A category number 150 as a connection to the municipal center of Mionica and the tourist center of Divčibare.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

The Iverak-Lajkovac expressway is very important for the entire Kolubara district, as it connects the town of Valjevo with the “Miloš Veliki” highway, i.e. the Belgrade-South Jadran Highway. This road shortens the journey to Belgrade and is a transverse link in the road network of the Republic of Serbia. It connects parts of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina with highway E-763 and further via Corridor 10, with Bulgaria and Greece.
