With the premiere screening of the videos „Safely through the tunnel" and  „We are not alone in the tunnel" in the presence of the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, the Head of the Traffic Police Administration Slaviša Lakićević, the Assistant director of PE "Roads of Serbia" Ivan Tejić, the Executive director of the Sector for Traffic Management of Information Systems Zoran Pešović with associates, Director of the Agency for Traffic Safety Branko Stamatović, traffic safety experts as well as creative teams who worked on the campaign, at a presentation organized in the Operational Management Center near the Brančić tunnel, on June 27, 2024, two new educational campaigns of PE "Roads of Serbia" have officially started, campaigns to raise the level of traffic safety, which will have an educational character for both drivers and all traffic participants, and which include two characteristic topics related to:

  • Driver education for safe behavior in tunnels under regular traffic conditions
  • Driver training for safe behavior in tunnels in the event of emergency events that may endanger the lives of road users

The slogans of the campaign -  „Safely through the tunnel" and  „We are not alone in the tunnel",  vividly and accurately, graphically and clearly speak of the essential information for all traffic participants that JP "Roads of Serbia" implements as a socially responsible enterprise, which manages the road network of state roads in Republic of Serbia.

The campaign is implemented by the Public Company "Roads of Serbia", with the support of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, pointed out that such campaigns are important in order to show people how they can avoid unforeseen situations in the tunnel and save their lives and the lives of other road users.

"We are currently building about 38 kilometers of tunnels, of which two tunnels will be among the longest on this Miloš Veliki highway, namely 'Laz' and 'Munjino brdo'." Each of them is about 2.8 kilometers long, as is the longest tunnel in Serbia, Iriški venac, about 3.5 km long.

Vesić added that the fact that so many tunnels are being built means that more attention must be paid to the education of drivers for regular and extraordinary modes of traffic, especially in tunnels, which is why it is necessary to carry out such campaigns.

The Minister thanked PE "Roads of Serbia" and the Ministry of Interior Affairs because together with his Ministry they made campaign videos that will be broadcast on national and local televisions.

Vesić praised the commitment and effort that PE "Roads of Serbia" invests in preserving the road network and traffic safety.

Slaviša Lakićević, head of the Traffic Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, emphasized that repressive measures do not produce the desired results and that is why such campaigns are necessary.

The Executive Director of the Sector for Management Information Systems in Traffic of JP "Roads of Serbia", Zoran Pešović, speaking about the monitoring of traffic in tunnels on the road network of Serbia and the system of operation of Operational Control Centers, pointed out that in our country there are six centers that monitor the development of traffic in tunnel tubes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, that one of them is located on the Miloš Veliki highway, in the Brančić tunnel near Ljig.

"Unfortunately, Pešović pointed out, "not so great statistics arrive from Serbian roads almost every day, and that the number of traffic accidents increases further at the beginning of the summer season, that traffic incidents in tunnels are not rare, because during one year, 284 extraordinary accidents were recorded in the Brančić tunnel alone." events, and at the level of Serbia, over 3,000 extraordinary events were recorded, but without casualties".

For better campaign visibility and adequate media promotion, PE "Roads of Serbia" has prepared video and radio spots, posters, announcements for social networks and informative flyers in Serbian and English.
