Climate change, carbon neutrality issues are priority emergencies worldwide. Wildfires, cyclones, floods, and droughts are now the new normal. “These shocks not only damage the environment, the biodiversity on which safeguarding the planet depends, they also weaken our political, economic and social systems”, as reminded by EU elected officials. The 49th ASECAP Study & Information days focused on how to decarbonize the road infrastructure to reach the objectives set up by Elected officials to have Europe first zero carbon continent and to ensure a resilient, robust and safe road infrastructure network.

MOBILITY: A RIGHT FOR CITIZENS HOW TO ENSURE SUSTAINABLE FUNDING TO PROVIDE INCLUSIVE AND NET ZERO MOBILITY SOLUTIONS

The 50th ASECAP study and information days will focus on ways to ensure equal access to mobility services, as a key point of social and economic development. How can financing transport infrastructure help achieve equity and efficiency? What good practices exist in this regard. What are the best ways to link financing with environmental and safety goals, as an economic incentive? What innovative means of financing will attract private investment in mobility infrastructure?

REGAINING TRUST AND CONFIDENCE TO BOOST THE ECONOMY AND TO RECOVER FROM PANDEMIC

The world has been hit by an unprecedented pandemic which caused an economic recession striking very hard Europe and the rest of the world, including road infrastructures. The 48th ASECAP Study & information days will focus on lessons learnt and on how it would be possible to foster safe and mobility solutions to boost the economy and recover from the pandemic crisis, by stimulating investments aimed at reaching the EU objectives of vision zero in terms of fatalities and of CO2 emissions. The contribution of the transport sector in dealing with mobility challenges to reach the Green Deal’s objectives, under the EU Recovery and Resilience facility should provide some good opportunities, with sustainable financing to allow public or private investments.

The event has been postponed based on local and national health authorities recommendations and protective measures taken to prevent spread of covid 19 pandemic.
