Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlović, PhD, Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak and the contractors’ representatives today visited works on motorway rehabilitation on the section Ruma-Pećinci.
Minister Mihajlović pointed out on this occasion that in the previous two years over five billion dinars has been invested in road maintenance in this part of Serbia and added that she visited construction sites across Serbia almost every day, so that citizens would see that work was being done, whether it was concerning road, railway, communal or water infrastructure, and also to give support to construction workers and all those working.
“Every employed person is important for our economy. The epidemic has hit the entire world and it will be here for a while, so it is important that we do everything to preserve our health and be able to work. Everything must go on. Today 5,500 workers are working on construction sites, there are no infected people and, with good management and care, we are able to keep the projects within the agreed time schedule”, she said.
Mihajlović added that the value of works for the motorway section from Sremska Rača to Pećinci was 1.5 billion dinars and that investments in road industry were great, since good infrastructure is a precondition for people to stay and live in Serbia.
Director Drobnjak said that currently the section from Ruma to Pećinci was being worked on, in the length of 13.1 km, and that he expected the works to be completed in three months, in accordance with the time schedule.
“Currently on this section the works on drainage check-up, the crash barrier and the removal of asphalt are being carried out. After that the substructure will be repaired and the pavement will be carried out. Then the second section is going to be done, in the length of 13.75 km, from Ruma to Sremska Mitrovica.”, Drobnjak said.
