Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infratsructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlović, PhD, during the visit to Sombor, together with the Mayor Dušanka Golubović and the Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak and associates, has visited the rehabilitated section of I B category state road no.15 from Sombor to Bački Breg.
Mihajlović said that Serbia is changing, year in year out, and that there is no big or small road for the Government of Serbia because each kilometre of road is important. Minister Mihajlović pointed out that 1.2 billion dinars have been invested in the West Bačka District in the previous four years and that practice will be continued. Minister Mihajlović has announced a new investment cycle and a project of rehabilitation for five thousand kilometres of roads, so over 300 km of road will be reconstructed in the West Bačka District.
“This road is important because it will contribute to further connection of people, especially of Sombor and Baja citizens, and also for the border crossing Bački Breg where traffic of heavy vehicles of over five tons is about to flow“, Minister Mihajlović added.
We expect the design and technical documentation for the expressway Sombor-Kikinda, 175 km long, worth approximately 835 million euros, to be completed by the end of the year“, Mihajlović pointed out and added that it is an important road which will connect Romania, Hungary and Serbia and contribute to industrial development in that part of Serbia.
Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak, said that the rehabilitation of the road section 14 km long, in the value of 315 million dinars, was completed in November and that this road is extremely important because it can accept heavy vehicle traffic. Drobnjak added that the PE “Roads of Serbia“ is rehabilitating the road from Kula to Vrbas and that works on the section Kula-Sombor have also been planned.
